In Whistling with Birds, Thomas Cristiani explores a form of dialogue as ancient as it is intimate: the one that develops between humans and birdsong. Whistles, imitations, breaths, and vocalizations become the instruments of a silent conversation with the animal world. Cristiani’s photographs capture these performers in moments when the boundary between performance and listening seems to disappear.
